A Winter Heart

In the madness of the dark, a child speaks without a voice.
So weak . . . so small, desperate to break free,
from the shadows from which one cannot escape.
Numbness permeates the limbs of free will.
Fear of horrid creatures, dark and malformed,
visions from some old folk lore, not of the fairy kind.

A snap! A creak! Fear the worst!
Cringing and crawling, back pushed to the wall.
All light dies . . . it's cold within.
Torture! It's coming! Eyes shut tight.
A broken, saddened heart pounds wildly.
Can no one save the hapless child now?

Long before the rays of innocent life should fall,
in the place where devilish nightmares dwell,
dark shadows take shape, becoming a species of their own.
Gnawing teeth and sharpened deadly claws,
bringing forth screams, from the bowers of hell itself.
Childlike bravery rises, only to falter, cowering before the red encrusted eyes.

A winter heart, now broken and bereft, tightly closes in,
fortifying itself so well, that even the spring warming dare not enter the void.
A cold sweat slowly soaks through into the soul.
The darkness surrenders, becoming the dawn of another life.
A trembling body shivers, awakening into adulthood once again.
It has been the prologue of a legacy, from the realm of an obscure nightmare.

Fragmented Dreams

A lost, ancient indifference.
Mysterious.
In sleep, you summon me.
Whispers.
Down through the ages,
the past and future, become one.
Wisdom,
a sacred circle of life.

An old road, broken.
Shadowed.
A specter of the past.
Encircled,
by the blush of the moon.
Legends.
Mythical tales, retold,
before the world grows dim.

A garden, fair and sweet.
Primordial.
Weary traveler, with no home to heed.
Seeking.
Dawn reflects light on the white city gate.
Vigils,
long before the mortal soul,
awakens from such fragmented dreams.

Mortal Loss

An immortals walk through eternity,
burns bright with liquid fire,
leaving behind a trail of fading memories,
in a mortals deep desire.

Within a heart still sotly weeps,
as time again stands still,
for the one who could not follow,
leaving lost love in its bitter chill.

Footsteps echo on in the shadow of mortal minds,
the persistent winds of change hides immortality in a distant land,
slowly erasing all paths through the endless time,
leaving all who try to follow walking through the empty sand.

A flame from the blues of my soul.

Fleeting Dream

The sun spreads soft color across the new day.
Upon waking I reach for my pen,
to capture upon a blank page of my journal,
a bit dusty, from being left under the bed,
my abstract thoughts, fading quickly,
from within my fleeting dream.

I try to conjure back the images.
To bring once again to life, its conception,
as it winds a twisted path out of existence.
Pictures flash, slightly tattered around the edges.
Faint voices call out, barely above a whisper,
yet through the misty darkness, I hear them echo.

Remembering tears that left me,
like raindrops cascading during a storm,
that had traced faint rivers upon my skin.
I felt I had been left trembling in the chill wind,
shivering before a distant flickering firelight.
A bareness to my soul had been revealed, I had not expected.

My journal received no words of thought that day.
No need to hinder my future thought process,
with the writing down of uncompromising dreams.
I shoved the journal back under my bed,
to gather a bit more dust,
tossing the pen in behind it.

Demon of the Storm

The sun scantily flickers across the waves crest.
Shadows of the deep creep on by below.
Loss and passion in every gusty wale.
Foreboding, even in the sweetest farewell,
as a storm filled wind capsizes the lofty sail.

The absorbing tide,
with its thunderous roar,
pounds furiously an island into rock and sand.
Mists caught low upon a chilly sea,
clutch tightly to the feathery palm tree stand.

A sullen echo, sounds muted across the swell.
Swift breezes wander freely over the world,
propelling waves to crash violently along the shore.
A terrible fate to have fallen into the whispering waves.
Years of solitude await, since flaming ships sail no more.

Turn away and look past the distant moors.
Across a sea that stretches far too wide,
as waves continue to roll out beyond the west.
Listen for the drowning heart that slowly beats,
for the demon of the storm has done the rest.

The Game You Played

Bewildered now, I stand apart,
clutching tightly a hollow heart . . .

My sorrow is felt from deep within.
As I ponder you, the tears begin.

For a brief moment in time,
I thought you really cared . . .
the feelings you triggered,
my soul you bared.

I've since that moment,
thrown into a deep black sea,
what was once my beating heart,
forever lost to you, forever lost to me.

. . . the price I paid,
for the game you played.

Perfect Rhyme

A body is weary and a heart becomes sad,
as he remembers his own face, when he was a lad.
Buried dreams, long left upon two souls apart,
resurface when recalling a once possessed, faithful heart.

He vows to change all before his time on earth is done,
and entrance into eternity, for both of them has begun.
He longs for their hearts and minds, forever to be,
as two bodies in motion, again in time like the sea.

Sentiment echoes moments of the sweetest desire,
with the memory of gazing into her eyes, filled with fire.
The dream to be one soul until the very end of time,
to again be lost within their rhythmic, perfect rhyme.

Castle Ruins

A walk down a corridor of solid stone,
passing through the darkness, yet not alone.
From the corner of the eye, shadows flow,
under the faint torch light, you glimpse your foe.

Echoes of footsteps, glide through eternity,
marking the way to the spirits immortality.
Out of the shadowed hallways of the past,
a light upon long ago lives, once again is cast.

Through long ebbing tides, time still flows,
stars through empty turret windows, forever glow.
The soft breeze bears all whispers away,
as dawn dwells through yet another day.

As the sun goes down shining against the west,
the darkness once again begins to crest.
Illuminating the silken forms of wispy white,
haunting once again dark halls, of the castle ruins at night.

Camelot

I have yet to see the alternative.
The guarantee that will keep me going,
throughout the innocence of my motions.
The ordeal that harkens to Camelot,
and to the ending of the world within.

The power to use my knowledge for personal gain,
is a conspiracy that my heart is not willing to accept.
I feel that I have been dragged under,
the weight of this responsibility, without which,
I fear I would falter and give in.
